The Company

BPI represents the UK’s recorded music industry, which is one of the most exciting and dynamic music sectors in the world. As a trade body, we champion the interests of our membership which includes nearly 500 independent music companies and the UK’s major record companies – Universal Music UK, Sony Music UK, and Warner Music UK. Together. BPI’s members account for 85% of all music sold in the United Kingdom. BPI organises the annual BRIT Awards with Mastercard show and The Mercury Music Prize with Free Now.

BPI co-owns The Official Charts in a joint venture with the Entertainment Retailers Association (ERA). The Official Charts is responsible for the commissioning, distribution, marketing and promotion of the UK’s industry standard music and video charts and sales data.

The successful candidate will report to BPI’s Chief Operating Officer.


Responsibilities & key tasks

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager is responsible for providing knowledge and advice across the organisation to assist in developing and implementing a 5 year DEI strategy. The role will be the central point of expertise in this area and will advise on actions the organisation should be taking to embed the strategy into its operations:

  • Support the implementation of the organisation’s DEI strategy and ensure there is a wider understanding of the strategy across the company and the membership.
  • Work with the Leadership Team to devise and implement initiatives, processes and training across the company for a thriving, nurturing and inclusive culture.
  • Strengthen liaison with members to bring together best practice and ensure the BPI’s strategy is aligned as far as possible with its membership’s needs and aspirations.
  • Provide and coordinate DEI advocacy across the organisation to promote opportunities for DEI activities.
  • Keep up-to-date and advise on emerging practices in DEI.
  • Work with other organisations and professional bodies to support, learn and develop DEI best practices.
  • Support the communications team to ensure consistency in internal and external DEI messaging and activity.
  • Develop and drive the training initiatives for both staff and members; work to understand how best the organisation can support its members in their DEI journey.
  • Be an advocate within the industry (and wider) for DEI initiatives and best practise

Skills and competencies
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm and passion for the DEI agenda with a progressive mindset to drive and deliver exceptional results
  • Experience of working in the DEI arena with exposure to a wide range of practices, ideologies, and skills
  • Experience of implementing action plans
  • Ability to produce DEI-related content for internal and external purposes
  • Self-motivated with ability to work on own initiative
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Credible at presenting and interacting at a senior level
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
    Basic Salary up to £45,000 with excellent benefits:
