BMG – Director Digital Business Development (DE)

We are looking for a Director (f/m/d) Digital Business Development to join our office in Berlin.

Your Mission at BMG

As a part of the Global Digital team, you will play a key part in delivering our global licensing strategy, leading business development initiatives across our recorded and publishing licensing partners.
You will be responsible to identify, assess, initiate and measure strategic opportunities across all new and existing digital licensing partners, with a focus on the recorded business.

Your Responsibilities

As internal expert of key platform, you will guide our global digital teams and monitor the success and impact of business development initiatives and account performance. Your main responsibilities will include the followings:

  • Manage and develop the commercial relationship with licensing partners across our publishing and recorded business.
  • Identify areas for optimization with existing licensing partners.
  • Define and setup KPI’s with our Insights and Analytics team and report performance to senior management.
  • Drive digital platform expertise, unlock best in class digital exploitation and guide our global digital teams from a strategic and expertise perspective.
  • Be the global point of contact for internal and external business development matters.
  • Foster and co-ordinate business development initiatives with key stakeholders across departments, e.g. supply chain, finance, royalties, data, repertoire, marketing and digital management.
  • Inform and support the commercial licensing team during the negotiation process and represent all internal department requirements.
  • Maximise opportunities from Bertelsmann relationships with platforms like Meta or Bytedance.
Your Profile
  • You hold a high degree in business, marketing, music, creative industry or related field.
  • You have previous experience working in a similar position in: business development, commercial (music/content) licensing, music/gaming platforms and/or digital key account management.
  • Social media business models, AR/VR, gaming and ad-supported media are familiar to you.
  • You profoundly understand the complexity and scope of the digital recorded and publishing music business, especially for UGC platforms and non-traditional DSP’s.
  • You have gained experience in managing a team and providing strategic direction.
  • Due your great analytical ability, you  are capable of creating compelling business development cases using different tools.
  • You demonstrate pro-activity and self-management competence to initiate and manage projects with a focus on driving business.
  • You are an excellent communicator with highlighting interpersonal and networking skills.
  • All common MS Office programs are easy for you to handle.
  • English fluency is essential, German skills are a plus.
