Artist Support Specialist

AWAL is seeking a Artist Support Specialist to join our dynamic Artist Support team. As a key addition to the team, you will take the lead in resolving important queries and managing critical processes across our roster. Reporting to the VP of AWAL Core & Artist Support, you will specifically cover areas such as artist accounting/payments and rights management; liaising with artists, artists’ teams, and internal stakeholders from across AWAL to solve problems.
What you will do
- Develop expertise in handling some of our more complex areas of artist support, including (but not limited to) artist accounting/payments and rights management
- Support clients with queries about their account statements and royalty payments
- Manage any rights issues that arise, coordinating with Ops and Business Affairs teams to resolve conflicts both effectively and efficiently
- Communicate directly with artists and their teams (managers, business managers, attorneys, etc.) to fully understand and address their needs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine the processes used to manage issues and queries, streamlining our approach across departments. Train and educate other team members on best practices
- Leverage internal analytics to inform your recommendations for process improvements
- Stay up to date with industry news and emerging technologies that affect our artists
Who you are
- You love to solve problems and enjoy a challenge
- You have experience in creating and implementing processes to improve efficiency
- You have a working understanding of music copyright law
- You understand how artist royalties are calculated, particularly for streaming revenue
- You are comfortable with data and have experience using data to make decisions
- You consistently display sound judgment in complex situations
- You have excellent communication skills—written and verbal
- You pay attention to details and keep your work organized
- You enjoy working on diverse teams
- You are passionate about empowering independent artists
- Proven music industry experience copyright law and royalty accounting preferred
- Business proficiency with multiple languages (in addition to English) is a plus
