The Amazon Digital Music team is looking for a motivated, customer-obsessed, analytical leader to drive engagement with Prime Music, the music streaming service for Amazon Prime members – based in Tokyo, Japan.

This role will own the strategy and execution of driving Prime Music adoption and engagement from across Amazon and will be responsible for leading site merchandising. To do so, the successful candidate will partner closely with key Amazon teams, including consumer marketing team, technical teams and site merchandisers across Amazon retail and digital categories.

This ideal candidate will deliver a set of high-priority strategic initiatives that bring Prime Music visibility and/or integrate Prime Music itself into the Amazon shopping and browsing experience and will execute programs to deliver these and quantify business results with data-driven analyses. You will need to be entrepreneurial and roll up your sleeves. Overall, you will be challenged to push boundaries, propose and execute new ideas, and establish best practices for Prime Music.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Obsess over customers and how they discover and engage with Amazon website and mobile app, Amazon devices and owned and operated entities. Serve as a cross-site merchandising expert internally and liaison with cross-site teams to drive program expansion
  • Work closely with Amazon Music’s product and development teams to inform necessary features and execute initiatives to drive qualified Prime Music traffic. Create and schedule individual merchandising campaigns for Prime Music across website, mobile devices, and music apps
  • Ownership of highly visible programs and projects including responsibility for measuring and analyzing the performance and identifying new opportunities based on customer and business data
  • Serve as the team’s subject matter expert on traffic and merchandising, supporting ad hoc analyzes and marketing needs
  • Document results and present to all levels of the company Management: Actively participate as a member of the marketing leadership team. Responsible for the recruitment, career development, and mentoring of staff.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in online marketing, marketing communications, product management, and/or consumer products and services
  • Knowledge of Excel and demonstrated experience using data and metrics to measure performance and determine improvements
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Team management experience
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to identify and troubleshoot inefficient, unreliable processes
  • Ability to deliver on multiple deadlines and prioritize compulsively as a self-directed individual, comfortable with a fast-paced, ambiguous environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Comfortable with a varied set of software and editing tools and ability to learn new tools quickly
  • Demonstrated creativity and judgment to develop solutions
  • Knowledge of SQL, including the ability to write or edit queries in order to mine the data needed to measure results and inform decisions
  • Intuition for customer communication voice; adept at marketing copywriting
  • Basic knowledge and experience with web authoring tools and willingness to learn both HTML and XML code if necessary in order to enhance or improve site and email content
  • Experience working in the music industry including a knowledge of current trends and history in music, the music industry, and digital music
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Familiarity with SQL, databases, and web metrics
  • Basic knowledge and experience with web authoring tools and willingness to learn both HTML and XML code if necessary in order to enhance or improve customer experiences
  • Intuition for customer communication voice; adept at marketing copywriting
  • Experience managing large scale marketing programs and writing customer-facing content
  • Passion for music and technology and the confluence of the two
