Jesy Nelson, former Little Mix member, signs to Polydor Records for solo album

Jesy Nelson has signed a solo record deal with Polydor Records.

The former Little Mix artist will join London-based Polydor’s roster, which also includes Celeste, Years & Years, Sam Fender, HAIM, Ellie Goulding, The Rolling Stones, Lana Del Rey, Glass Animals, Holly Humberstone, Michael Kiwanuka, James Blake and more.

As part of Little Mix, Nelson sold over 60 million records (across albums and singles) worldwide. She left the British girl group – who were originally signed to Syco Music before switching to Sony‘s RCA – in December 2020.

Breaking the news of her departure from Little Mix on Instagram last year, Nelson praised the group’s fans and achievements, but noted: “I find the constant pressure of being in a girl group and living up to expectations very hard.”

“I cannot wait for you to hear what I’ve been working on and to start this new chapter with the Universal Music team.”

Nelson is now in the studio working on her Polydor-signed solo record, expected for release later this year.

She has just under 8 million followers on Instagram, and in 2019 starred in an acclaimed BBC documentary, Odd One Out, about her struggles with cyberbullies during her time in Little Mix.

Jesy Nelson said: “I’m so excited to finally announce that I will be signing to Polydor Records. I cannot wait for you to hear what I’ve been working on and to start this new chapter with the Universal Music team.”

Ben Mortimer, co-President of Polydor said: “As soon as I met Jesy I knew Polydor had to become her label partner. She’s developed the sound for her next music beautifully. It’s true to her. And she has an authentic vision about what this next stage of her already incredible career should be.

“There’s a huge appetite for what music she comes with now, and a huge platform to launch it from. I’m proud she’s chosen Polydor to be her new home.”
