Jason Johnson has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Marketing & Brand Strategy at music streaming platform Audiomack.

The role will see him spearhead the brand’s growth strategy across North America and continue expansion efforts throughout Africa.

Audiomack also says that the new role will see him continue to support the executive leadership team on all marketing, public relations, brand strategy and philanthropy initiatives.

Johnson first joined Audiomack in 2018 as a Senior Marketing Consultant, where he helped launch the platform’s #UPNOW artist development platform.

Audiomack says that the program has played “an integral role in uplifting a new generation of emerging artists” across hip-hop, R&B, Afrobeats and more, citing artists such as Rod Wave, EST Gee, Blxst, Pooh Shiesty, Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Black Sherif, among others.

Audiomack says that he’s also developed marketing initiatives to amplify the international growth of Afrobeats superstars such as
Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy and Fireboy DML, among others.

According to Audiomack, he also helped broker partnerships with Live Nation Urban while also coordinating Audiomack’s Hometown Heroes Series for live regional shows in Chicago, Atlanta, New York and Washington DC.

In addition to his day-to-day responsibilities, Johnson also serves as the President of Audiomack’s Social Action Committee, where he oversees the organization’s philanthropic initiatives.

Earlier this year, Audiomack partnered with BMAC to launch an internship/mentorship program, which it says was “designed to foster the next generation of Black executives in the music industry”.

Under Johnson’s leadership with the Audiomack Africa team, Audiomack says that it became the top-ranked music streaming app on Apple’s iOS in Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Senegal, and Kenya.

Additionally, Audiomack became the No. 1 overall iOS app in Nigeria – ahead of WhatsApp, Facebook, Snapchat, Insta, YouTube, and Gmail – earlier this year in April.

The platform says that it now averages over 2.5 billion monthly Afrobeats streams per month.

“I’m humbled and proud to take this next step in my career with Audiomac.”
