Sarah Boorman has been named General Manager of Universal’s UMTV label.
Boorman is moving to UMTV from sister Universal Music label Island where she worked for 12 years, latterly as marketing director overseeing campaigns for artists including Jessie J, Taio Cruz, Jamie Cullum, Tinchy Stryder, Nicki Minaj and Drake.
Compilation specialist UMTV has started 2015 with the chart-topping Move On Up – The Best Of Northern Soul alongside the ongoing success of its evergreen brands Pop Party, Dreamboats & Petticoats and AATW collaboration Clubland.

UMTV MD Adam Corke said: “As a highly respected marketer, Sarah’s creativity and vast experience across countless successful campaigns will bring a fresh perspective to what we do, and what we are planning to do, at UMTV.
“We have a fantastic young team here and I’m delighted Sarah is joining us to help drive the business forward.”
Boorman joined Island in 2003 from Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network, where her idea for a Sugababes cartoon led to her introduction to the label.
As a product manager at Island she drove campaigns for artists including George Michael, Sugababes, Nelly, McFly, Amy Winehouse, The Feeling and Bombay Bicycle Club, moving up the ranks to Marketing Director in May 2009. Her promotion to her new role at UMTV brings her full circle as prior to Turner Broadcasting, she spent three years at another compilation specialist – Ministry of Sound.
Boorman said, “After 12 eventful, exhilarating and wonderful years at Island the time is right for the next chapter. Island has been a hugely importantly part of my life for a long time and I leave with priceless memories and friends for life.
“The opportunities for UMTV are challenging and exciting and I am thrilled to be joining Adam and his team for the next stage of my career. I’m looking forward to helping drive future success and being part of a new era for the label.”
