Promotion and marketing specialist International Solutions (IS) has opened a Toronto division – adding to its existing global network of offices in London, New York, Amsterdam and Cologne.
International Solutions is a services company that aims to provide a ‘local voice’ to music projects in territories around the world. It often joins forces with a label, distributor and/or local promoter to manage music launches in various markets, including both pre-tour and on-tour promotions. Its current clients include RCA, Sony Music, PledgeMusic and Razor & Tie.
Matt Smallwood has been appointed to head up the new Canada office, bringing extensive experience in music management as well as international marketing and sales. The exec is a former operations boss for MapleMusic Recordings and General Manager of Fontana North.
He has played a role in the careers of artists including Radiohead, Silversun Pickups, Alabama Shakes, JRDN, Neverending White Lights, and more.
At IS, Smallwood’s primary mandate is to provide marketing strategy and execute promotion campaigns for artists and labels looking to export their music outside of Canada.
“Canada has always been an amazing source of talent,” said International Solutions CIO Paolo d’Alessandro. “We have the privilege of working with some great Canadian artists and labels internationally and it seemed a natural move for us to establish a permanent presence in the country. We are truly excited to have Matt on board; we know he will be a great asset.”

IS delivers international marketing strategy and multi-territory promotion services across publicity, retail, radio, video and television, as well as full coordination for record releases and tours.
In Canada, International Solutions currently works with Nickelback on promotional campaigns outside of North America. It also executes global campaigns for Canadian independent label Dine Alone Records throughout the US and Europe.Music Business Worldwide
