InGrooves founder Robb McDaniels quits company after 13 years

The founder and CEO of the popular independent distribution and services company INgrooves, Robb McDaniels, has resigned from the firm.

McDaniels founded INgrooves’s parent company, Isolation Network Inc, in 2001, and led it through key evolutions.

In 2008, Universal Music Group (UMG) hired Isolation Network to manage its digital supply chain and digitally distribute all of their music in North America, via Isolation Network’s proprietary digital distribution platform.

In 2010, Shamrock Capital made a significant investment in the Company, which enabled INgrooves to acquire Fontana Distribution from UMG in 2012, adding more than 200 labels to the Company’s roster in North America and giving them a strong physical distribution service to offer clients alongside their world-class digital platform.

The exec also helped oversee the launch of INgrooves’ artist services division, INResidence, in 2012 as well as the foundation of its in-house publishing company in 2013.

Today, INgrooves manages over 4 million songs for thousands of artists and labels. Meanwhile, sister company INscribe Digital has signed more than 30,000 titles, becoming a serious player in the eBook sector.

McDaniels will remain on the INgrooves board as a consultant and will continue to be a shareholder. Matt Burns, INgrooves co-founder and general counsel, will fill the role of interim CEO.

“Over the past 13 years, I have led the expansion of Isolation Network into one of the most forward-thinking media distribution, marketing and technology companies in the world, with more than 175 employees in five global offices,” said McDaniels.

“But I am an entrepreneur at heart and with the company in the capable hands of an exceptionally strong executive team, the time has come for me to move on to the next chapter in my life.”

Jay Boberg, who has been INgrooves’ Chairman since 2010, will become Executive Chairman, taking a more active role in the firm’s operation.

“Robb is a rare visionary in the digital media industry, and we want to thank him for his tireless years of leadership building Isolation Network into one of the largest independently owned media distribution companies,” said Boberg. “We are confident that the executive team Robb has assembled will continue to deliver for our partners around the world.”Music Business Worldwide
