Imagem signs global deal with Apple Music Publishing

Netherlands-born independent music publisher Imagem has become the official global partner of Apple Music Publishing Ltd.

The deal, presumably an exclusive administration agreement, includes songs from classic British band Badfinger.

Badfinger’s creations include the Ivor Novello-winning Without You – which later became an international hit for Harry Nilsson (1971) and Mariah Carey (1994).

The band also penned Baby Blue, the track used in the final episode of hit US TV drama Breaking Bad (pictured).

The estates of the songwriters who penned the bulk of Badfinger’s material, Pete Ham and Tom Evans, signed an exclusive deal with Kobalt in 2013, having moved over from BMG.

John Minch, Imagem Music UK’s chief executive officer, said: “Apple Publishing has some wonderful copyrights from a golden era of songwriting.

“To partner with Apple is a real privilege and we look forward to working this catalogue globally. We will really give these songs our love and attention.’
