Guji Lorenzana promoted to Director, A&R and Client Development, APAC, at Symphonic Distribution

Symphonic Distribution has promoted Guji Lorenzana to Director, A&R and Client Development, APAC, as the company expands its operations and roster across the Asia-Pacific region.

As part of the expansion, Symphonic has also appointed Arie Legowo as A&R Client Development Lead, Indonesia, and Abegail Ungab as Senior Manager, Content, UGC & Rights Management, APAC. Both will report to Lorenzana.

Symphonic said Lorenzana will now oversee regional A&R strategy, client development and team growth across Southeast Asia, East Asia, South Asia and Australia.

The Los Angeles-based exec previously served as the company’s first Territory Manager, A&R and Client Development, APAC, a role he assumed in 2024.

According to the company, Lorenzana has led a number of label and artist signings in the region while building out Symphonic’s dedicated APAC team.

Recent additions to the distributor’s roster include Philippines-based DYNA Music, the oldest music catalog in the Philippines, and Underdog Music; Taiwan’s Kafka by the Sea; Hong Kong artist-producer XTIE; Indonesia’s Werdi Media and artist SIVIA; Australia’s Hitmakers Entertainment; Korea’s ABYSS Company; and India’s Sagarika Music.

Legowo joins Symphonic with over 20 years of experience across the music, creative and business development sectors. He previously held senior roles at Warner Music Indonesia and The Orchard, where he served as Country Head for Indonesia.

Ungab has more than a decade of experience across content strategy, rights management, monetization and channel growth. She most recently worked at Ingrooves Music Group as Senior Manager, Video Strategy, APAC.

About the appointments, Lorenzana said: “Symphonic’s presence in APAC has skyrocketed over the past two years, and we have plans to continue expanding even further.

Among the company’s recent artist additions in Asia are Philippine artists Renee Dominique, Kiana V and Jim Paredes; Nepalese rapper Laure; South Korean singer J.Fla; and Vietnamese pop artist SUNI.

Dominique previously collaborated with Jason Mraz on “Could I Love You Any More.Kiana V is the daughter of OPM icon Gary Valenciano, while Paredes is best known as a founding member of the Filipino group APO Hiking Society.

Laure has appeared as a judge on the television series Himalaya Roadies and has collaborated with artists including Diplo and MØ.

J.Fla rose to global prominence through her English-language YouTube covers, which have generated hundreds of millions of views, while SUNI is known for the track “Cứ Chill Thôi,” which has surpassed 43 million streams on Spotify.

Additional recent signings include homegrown自家种 (China), The Upside Down (China), Terno Recordings (Philippines), Vale Music (India), and Fire and Ice Music (Philippines).

Founded in 2006 by producer Jorge Brea, Symphonic operates a distribution and rights management platform serving independent labels, managers and artists.

Last year, the company hired a team of A&R Client Development Leads to expand its presence in Europe and expanded its presence in Puerto Rico through a partnership with recently formed indie label High Ground Music (HGM), alongside the appointment of Victor Roque as Senior Director, A&R and Client Development for Latin America.
