Gracenote veteran Stephen White named Dubset CEO

Stephen White has been named Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Dubset Media Holdings – a company set up to help DJs clear all samples and tracks used in their mixes that has been endorsed by David Guetta.

Interim CEO Bob Barbiere will retain his President position and return to his role as Chief Operating Officer.

White worked for more than 14 years in a variety of capacities at music recognition software company Gracenote, rising to the position of President, a role he left last year.

“Dubset is poised to transform the streaming of DJ Mix content on a global level, creating a brand new revenue stream for DJs, artists, record labels, and publishers,” said White.

“We live in a world where mixed and remixed content has become an integral part of the creative fabric of our culture. We are very excited to create a platform that enables that content to be monetized and distributed to fans all over the world while compensating the underlying rights holders.”

Prior to joining Gracenote, Mr. White was the vice president of development for streaming music start-up Echo.com, which combined group content streaming and community features.

Prior to Echo.com, White was a senior director and executive producer for CKS, a media consultancy based in Silicon Valley where he led teams in the creation of web properties such as the Apple online store and GM.com. He began his career as a reporter and writer.

Dubset Media Holdings’ (DMH) proprietary MixSCAN technology has been built to identify and resolve multiple rights commonly associated with mixed music content. More than 250,000 mixes have been registered with the product so far.Music Business Worldwide
