Glenn Mendlinger promoted to EVP of Republic Records and President of Imperial Music

Republic Records has promoted Glenn Mendlinger to EVP of Republic Records and President of Imperial Music.

Republic says that Mendlinger “has proven instrumental” to the launch and subsequent success of Imperial, which was launched by Republic in September 2021.

According to Republic, in 2021, Imperial achieved sales of 7 million adjusted albums and 10 billion global streams.

Among many milestones, Bo Burnham’s INSIDE (The Songs) won the Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media for All Eyes On Me and was nominated for Best Music Film for INSIDE.

It held No.1 on the Billboard Comedy Albums Chart for 25 weeks and claimed a place in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200 for six non-consecutive weeks. It has just been certified gold by the RIAA.

Under the IMPERIAL banner, recent signing Stray Kids just debuted No.1 on the Billboard Top 200 with ODDINARY.

In addition, TWICE scored two back-to-back Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Top 200, while TOMORROW X TOGETHER’s The Chaos Chapter: Freeze and G Herbo’s 25 both bowed in the Top 5.

Baby Gravy (BBNO$ & Yung Gravy) earned over 300 million streams globally with Baby Gravy 2 which included hits shining on my ex and Welcome to Chilis.

Other Imperial projects include Jelani Aryeh, Chri$tian Gate$, Brye, and more.

Simultaneously, Mendlinger is part of the executive leadership team at Republic and is involved in The Chemical Brothers who he brought over to Republic when he joined and Swedish House Mafia who just last week released their first album in over 10 years.

Before joining Republic Records and IMPERIAL, Mendlinger spent 21 years at Astralwerks, serving as the General Manager of the label since 2006.

Throughout his tenure, he oversaw campaigns for records by Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers at the turn of the century, with Daft Punk and David Guetta during the mid-aughts and again with Swedish House Mafia.

In 2014, he signed Halsey and has also singed and worked with the likes of Sia, Phoenix, Porter Robinson, DFA records, deadmau5, Pet Shop Boys, Hot Chip, Empire Of The Sun, The B-52’s, Kraftwerk and AIR.

Prior to Astralwerks, he worked at East West and Virgin. Mendlinger is based out of the company’s global headquarters in New York.
