Glassnote Records signs hotly-tipped act snny in New York

Glassnote Records has signed hotly-tipped, New York-based act snny.

Praised by the likes of Pigeons And Planes – who called his Young Boy ‘one of the most impressive debuts of the year’ on its release in January – snny was born in Ivory Coast, raised in Boston and is now based in New York City.

On signing to Glassnote, he has released latest track, Arizona.

Entertainment Weekly says the track sees snny “channel Chance the Rapper’s relaxed flow… over breezy production”. You might be able to detect some Frank Ocean and The Weeknd influences in there too.

Judge for yourselves below.

“Signing to Glassnote was a very organic process. They’re an indie label that I’ve always admired and respected because of the artists on their roster.”

Both “Arizona” and “Young Boy” will appear on snny’s forthcoming debut EP, Learning to Swim, which will be released September 8th on Glassnote Records.

“I think people are always looking to find the meaning behind a song,” said snny. “I wrote Arizona about the experience of creating and finding a deeper meaning within my own work. Lyrically, it is very literal but it also symbolizes the overall state of mind that lingered while creating the songs that would eventually becomes the LTS EP.”

He added: “Signing to Glassnote was a very organic process. They’re an indie label that I’ve always admired and respected because of the artists on their roster.

“I’m just happy to be a part of that and merge my world with theirs.”
