Glassnote hires Spotify’s Dexter Batson as UK Head of Promotion

Independent record company Glassnote has hired Dexter Batson as its new UK Head of Promotion.

Batson comes to Glassnote from Spotify where he spent the last three and half years as Senior Editor on the Music Culture & Editorial team. At Spotify UK, Batson was responsible for Alternative playlisting.

Prior to his time at Spotify, Batson (pictured) spent five years at the BBC including time on the music teams of Radio 1 & 6 Music as well as production work at Radio 1 & 1Xtra.

Batson said, “I’ve spent my career working to make good music popular, and what better place to continue that work than with this great independent institution. Glassnote has a glorious past and present, and I’m hoping to make our future even brighter.”

While at Spotify, Batson was responsible for all alternative music playlists – a role which included exporting the British and Irish alternative music to the world, as well as bringing international music to a UK audience.

He started his career working independent radio promotions at AJPR where he worked with artists including Klaxons, La Roux, Flaming Lips, The Wombats and more.
