Funded by Sony, Popular Demand Management launches in Norway

Sony Music has provided funding for the launch of a talent management company, Popular Demand Management, based in Oslo, Norway.

The firm is helmed by Aslak Klever who was previously Head of Nordics for Caroline International, Universal Music Group‘s label services division.

In his former position, Klever signed and reached #1 with Morgan Sulele and Kamferdrops in the Norwegian and Swedish singles charts.

Launching on October 1st, Popular Demand Management will be initially representing artist/songwriter and Sony Music signing Katastrofe/Petter Kristiansen (pictured), who claims over 350m streams and has contributed to two Norwegian #1 singles.

Artist/songwriter Morgan Sulele/Magnus Clausen has over 300m streams and has also been involved in two Norwegian #1 singles, is also on the roster.

Other signings include two artists who have previously released music through Caroline: Kamferdrops – who is behind Swedish multi-platinum single ‘Jag Trodde Änglarna Fanns’ – and Norwegian pop-rap duo Erik & Kriss, who have tallied over 100 weeks in the Top 20 Norwegian singles chart, and have had four albums reach Top 40.

“Sony Music Norway have the best team in place for supporting artists and managements in the nordic region, and I’m very excited for the future of our partnership.”

Discussing the new venture, Klever said: “Founding a management, taking an even greater part of artists’, producers’ and songwriters’ creative process feels like a natural step to make.

“[Managing Director] Lena Midtveit and Sony Music Norway have the best team in place for supporting artists and managements in the nordic region, and I’m very excited for the future of our partnership.”

Klever started his major label career in 2010 as Head of Sales at EMI Music Norway. Two years later he was promoted to Head of Sales for Norway and Head of Brand Partnerships for the Nordic Region at Parlophone Label Group.

He joined Warner Music as Sales Director when it acquired PLG in 2013, prior to joining Caroline and UMG.
