Former Epic Records MD Dougie Bruce joins Universal Music Publishing UK

Respected A&R specialist Dougie Bruce has re-joined Universal Music Publishing in the UK, MBW understands.

Bruce previously worked for UMPG for four years from 2004-2008, when he famously signed Adele to the major publisher.

The exec also brought acts such as Lily Allen and MGMT to the company.

Bruce went on to work in management at Simon Fuller’s XIX Entertainment, looking after acts such as Aloe Blacc.

He was named MD of Epic Records UK at Sony in 2012, working alongside Steven Melrose, before leaving the label in 2016.

At UMPG, Bruce is reunited with now-UK MD Mike McCormack.

The pair previously worked closely together at the company, with McCormack heading up the A&R team under Paul Connolly.

McCormack left UMP UK in 2014, but returned in 2016 as MD.

UMPG’s big UK success stories over the past year have included its relationship with British songwriter Steve Mac, who co-wrote Ed Sheeran’s Shape Of You, in addition to hits by the likes of Rita Ora, Clean Bandit and Liam Payne.
