Former ADA and Defected exec Nick Roden joins INGrooves

Independent music distributor INgrooves has appointed former ADA and Defected exec Nick Roden as its Director of International Business Development.

In the newly-created position, Roden (pictured) will be responsible for developing new and existing distributor, label, manager and artist business relationships.

He will report directly to Alex Branson, SVP & MD INgrooves International, and will be based in the company’s London office.

Roden began his career in independent music sales & distribution over 15 years ago at Pinnacle Records as Label Manager, where he was responsible for a roster including Sanctuary, One Little Indian, Tru Thoughts, Rykodisc and Lex amongst others.

Following a stint as Head of Labels at digital music start-up TuneTribe.com, he joined Warner Music to launch and build the London-based division of Alternative Distribution Alliance (ADA) where he worked with labels across all genres, from Earache to Ed Banger, via VP Records, Epitaph and Strictly Rhythm.

During his tenure, Roden rose to the position of Director, ADA UK and Global, where he was instrumental in the development of Warner Music Artist & Label Services (WMALS), brokering marketing and distribution deals for Orbital, Richie Sambora and Johnny Marr.

In 2012, Roden moved to Defected Records, serving as Commercial Director at the world’s leading house music label.

“I’m thrilled to see someone of Nick’s calibre join INgrooves,” said Alex Branson. “His experience of helping indie labels & artists navigate the ever changing retail and music service landscape is a huge boost to the company and our label partners, both current and future.”

Commented Roden: “I have long respected INgrooves as a business at the cutting edge of indie distribution, offering an unparalleled service and infrastructure to its partners. I am delighted to be joining Alex, Amy and the team to help with the continued development and growth of the company, and forge new partnerships with more of the world’s best independent labels and artists.”

“Having worked with Nick previously, I can say that we are very fortunate to have him join our team in London,” added Amy Dietz, General Manager of INgrooves. “Nick is sincerely passionate about music as well as the independent community, and we are all excited about what we can accomplish together.”Music Business Worldwide
