Faisel Durrani appointed EVP/GM of Def Jam Recordings

Def Jam Recordings has appointed Faisel Durrani as its Eexecutive Vice President / General Manager based in the US.

Durrani (pictured) returns to Def Jam after more than a decade working way from record companies, at Live Nation and Parkwood Entertainment – the company set up to manage Beyonce’s career.

The exec’s career in music began in the mid-eighties with roles at A&M Records in Toronto and Polygram Canada’s A&M/Motown/Island division. He then became International Manager of Mercury Records & Def Jam in New York, before joining Island Records in 1997.

In 2002 he became SVP/International Manager of the former Island Def Jam Group, before being promoted to EVP/International Marketing.

“It’s a time of renewal and growth for this legendary company.”

“I am looking forward to working closely with Faisel – together with Dion [‘No ID’ Wilson] and our extremely talented executive team – to help bolster the many artist development campaigns and aggressive branding goals we have set forth at the label,” said Def Jam Recordings CEO Steve Bartels.

“Not only will Faisel utilise his vast experience – specifically his touring, artist management and international marketing acumen – to help that agenda, but his natural leadership abilities will immediately impact our internal process and subsequent results in the marketplace.”

“I am excited to be joining Steve Bartels and the truly great artists here at Def Jam,” said Durrani. “It’s a time of renewal and growth for this legendary company. I’m looking forward to meeting the challenges and seizing the opportunities of our ever-changing landscape.”
