Eventbrite expands into Berlin, passes £1bn ticket processing milestone

Self-service ticketing platform Eventbrite processed £1 billion ($1.5 billion) in gross ticket sales across the world in 2014.

The company says it saw a 70% increase in the number of events with which it partnered.

In the UK alone these included Wired’s tech conferences, award-winning festival We Are FSTVL, Tough Mudder obstacle races, plus and screenings, concerts and seminars from Amnesty International.

The UK represents around 10% of Eventbrite’s global business with staff in London and Manchester.

The company opened a new office in Berlin, Germany earlier this month.

Marino Fresch, Head of Marketing for UK & Ireland at Eventbrite, said: “We’ve seen tremendous growth across many different categories in the past year in the UK. People are coming to Eventbrite to buy a ticket for a conference and discovering everything from cooking classes to comedy.

“With more support for organisers across the UK and Europe we look forward to helping organisations of all types and sizes drive success through events in 2015.”

Eventbrite’s 2014 in numbers:

  • Total volume processed in 2014: £1 billion ($1.5 billion)
  • Number of tickets sold (free and paid) in 2014: 80 million
  • Number of events: 1.7 million
  • Number of partner apps available in 2014: 130
  • Number of offices opened: 3 (Nashville, Dublin, Melbourne), bringing its total to 8 global offices (including Berlin, opened this month)
  • Number of Eventbrite employees worldwide: 500+
