Eric Wong has been promoted to EVP, Recorded Music at Warner Music Group, alongside his post as President, East West Records US, and President, Warner Music Canada.
WMG said on Tuesday (December 16) that the new role will see Wong “spearhead flagship global marketing campaigns and lead global A&R,” working closely with WMG’s labels, artists, and their teams to “turbocharge high-impact storytelling around the world”.
He will remain based in New York, reporting directly to WMG CEO Robert Kyncl.
In his capacity leading East West Records US over the last year, WMG said that Wong has “expanded the creative bridge across WMG’s global ecosystem,” which included “helping align markets, upstream local successes, and guide artists toward broader international opportunities”.
WMG added that “the label has supported global breakthrough acts”, including Punjabi superstar Karan Aujla, whose album P-Pop Culture debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.
Also, according to the announcement, since taking over Warner Music Canada in September, Wong has “helped strengthen the connection between the US and Canadian markets, appointing new leadership to focus local efforts”.
Wong previously served as Chief Marketing Officer of Warner Music’s Recorded Music division, leading its global marketing efforts and strengthening collaboration across more than 70 markets.
In that role, he helped shape campaigns for artists such as Dua Lipa, Charli xcx, Ed Sheeran, Cardi B, David Guetta, and Coldplay. Prior to that, Wong spent nearly a decade at Universal Music Group, where he served as Chief Operating Officer of Island Records.
Commenting on Wong’s promotion, Kyncl said: “Since joining WMG’s senior management team five years ago, Eric has been a driving force behind our mission to forge closer collaboration across our recorded music labels and territories around the world.”
