Epidemic Sound rival Artlist now lets its users generate 3-minute AI tracks using Google’s Lyria 3 Pro music model

Just a day after Google unveiled a Pro tier for its Lyria 3 music generation model, Epidemic Sound rival Artlist has announced that it’s integrating the models into its platform.

Tel Aviv-based Artlist, which counts Google, Amazon, and Microsoft among its clients, said on March 26 that with the integration, users can now generate “original, studio-quality songs”  from text prompts or up to 10 image inputs.

Google unveiled Lyria 3 Pro on March 25, which it says is capable of producing tracks of up to 3 minutes long.

The tech giant is positioning the technology as a potential alternative to royalty-free production music services like Epidemic Sound, with the company suggesting creators could use it to generate “personalized tracks for vlogs, podcasts or tutorial videos”.

For Artlist, which claims to serve more than 50 million creators and global brands, the Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro integration expands its AI Toolkit, allowing it to offer AI video, image, voiceover, and now music generation into a single platform.

Artlist counts KKR among its backers after the private equity firm led a $48 million funding round in June 2020. That same year, Artlist acquired digital assets marketplace platform Motion Array for $65 million.

Artlist says the update allows creators to produce “high-end video content faster, removing traditional barriers between idea, production, and final delivery.”

The system supports multiple genres including cinematic scores and pop, and can produce vocals with lyrics in any language.

Creators can control every part of a track, such as intros, verses, choruses and endings, or generate a complete track running up to 3 minutes.

Shorter 30-second cuts are also supported, which could be used for social media and advertising campaigns.

The Lyria integration is available across its subscription tiers. Artlist’s AI Starter plan costs $11.99 per month, allowing subscribers to create about 103 videos or 110 songs. The AI Professional tier is priced at $89.99 per month, which can be used by up to five members.

This subscription tier lets users create up to 1,125 videos or about 1,200 songs per month. Artlist is also offering an Enterprise tier, offering an unlimited number of team members.

Artlist says the output produced via its platform are “commercial-ready and fully licensed.”

When Lyria 3 was launched, Google did not specify how the model was trained and is carefully choosing the language around the training that went into it.

The platform last week reiterated that the design and training of Lyria 3 used “materials that YouTube and Google has a right to use under our terms of service, partner agreements, and applicable law.”

“By adding AI Music into our AI Toolkit, we are giving creators a more powerful, integrated set of tools to produce high-end video content at scale. Our goal is to make every stage of video production seamless and professional, ensuring creators have everything they need to bring their vision to life.”

Google added in its blog post last week: “To protect original expression, Lyria 3 and Gemini do not mimic artists; if a prompt names a creator, the model takes that as broad inspiration. Additionally, we employ filters to check outputs against existing content and users must adhere to the Terms of Service and Gen AI prohibited use policies, which prohibit violating others’ intellectual property and privacy rights.”

Billboard reported in January 2024 that Google had previously trained its AI music models on copyrighted recordings before approaching rights holders for licensing deals.

Ira Belsky, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Artlist, said: “The expansion of our AI offerings is all about delivering greater value and creative freedom to creators.”
