Downtown Music Benelux has signed an international partnership with Seattle-based independent music publisher, Sub Pop Publishing.

Under the terms of the agreement, Sub Pop Publishing’s roster of writers and recording artists will be able to tap in to Downtown’s global creative infrastructure as well as its presence in the European market.

The company will also benefit from Songtrust, Downtown’s technology platform, which powers global royalty collection from over 130 countries and more than 20,000 unique income sources worldwide.

“I am happy to be working with Gareth Smith again, who I know from my time at Chrysalis Publishing,” said Lucas van Slegtenhorst, Downtown Music Benelux Managing Director. “I am sure we can add great value to his growing roster at Sub Pop by helping them on creative opportunities!”

“In searching for a new international partner we decided we’d only settle for a digitally minded but creatively focused company that would also treat us like part of the family,” said Gareth Smith, Sub Pop Publishing Vice President.

“That is exactly what we found with Lucas, Joe and the awesome teams at Downtown and Songtrust!”

“Songtrust is thrilled to be working with such a legendary music company that has recognized the flexibility and robustness of the Songtrust for Business platform,” said Joe Conyers, Downtown VP of Tech and Songtrust General Manager.

Downtown Music Publishing runs offices in New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, London, Amsterdam, and Tokyo. Its catalogue spans songwriters and artists including John Lennon & Yoko Ono, Ryan Tedder, Benny Blanco, Hans Zimmer, Mötley Crüe, One Direction, Bruce Springsteen, Naughty Boy, Hardwell, Sturgill Simpson, Santigold, and Carla Bruni.

In 2014, Downtown Music Benelux was established as a joint venture with Cloud 9 Music.Music Business Worldwide
