Downtown Music Publishing hires Alan Goodstadt as CFO

Downtown Music Publishing has appointed Alan Goodstadt as Chief Financial Officer.

In his new role based in New York, Goodstadt will oversee Downtown’s global finance and accounting operations. He will report to Downtown’s CEO, Justin Kalifowitz.

Prior to joining Downtown, Goodstadt was co-founder and Managing Partner of Amplified Capital Partners, an investment company that launched a chain of music schools in the New York area.

“As Downtown continues expanding its global reach, technology platform and client services offering, Alan is the ideal executive to lead finance for us,” said Kalifowitz.

“Whether it be an acquisition, partnership, or royalty advance financing, Alan’s wide-ranging experience in media banking will be invaluable to our clients and their advisors in the months and years ahead.”

Goodstadt has over 20 years of investment banking, private equity, entrepreneurial and managerial experience.

Prior to Amplified, he was a Partner at Redwood Capital, a boutique investment bank serving the technology, communications, media, and business services industries.

He ran the digital media practice, with a particular focus on the emerging digital music sector.

Previously, Goodstadt was a Managing Director and Head of Retail Mergers & Acquisitions at Merrill Lynch and a Managing Director and Head of Consumer Retail Mergers & Acquisitions at Banc of America Securities.

Earlier in his career, he was a Director at CSFB Equity Partners, a private equity fund controlled by Credit Suisse, where he led deal teams in executing and monitoring investments primarily in the telecommunications, media and technology sectors. Alan began his career at Chemical Bank (now JP Morgan Chase) as a credit officer working with small businesses.

Goodstadt’s experience also includes serving on the Executive Council of Digital Entertainment Ventures, an early stage venture capital fund, and serving on the Advisory Board of The Jam NYC, a recreational music organization for amateur musicians in New York City.
