Downtown inks global music publishing deal with Alejandra Ghersi Rodriguez, aka Arca

Downtown Music Services has inked a global music publishing administration deal with producer, singer, writer, DJ and visual artist Alejandra Ghersi Rodriguez, aka Arca.

Alejandra Ghersi Rodriguez is a Venezuelan, non-binary trans woman based in Barcelona.

She has released 12 official projects as Arca. Four of those were issued in the KiCk album series during one week in December 2021.

KiCk was nominated for Best Alternative Music Album at the 2021 Latin Grammys, as well as Best Dance/Electronic Album at the 2021 Grammys.

As a producer Arca worked across multiple tracks on Kanye West’s Yeezus album, and produced/co-wrote on Bjork’s Vulnicara and Utopia albums.

She also remixed Rain on Me by Lady Gaga ft. Ariana Grande for Lady Gaga’s Dawn of Chromatica album.

 

Additionally, Arca produced two songs on FKA Twigs’ recent Caprisongs mixtape, including Tears In The Club featuring The Weeknd, and produced/co-wrote FKA Twigs’ 2013 EP2.

She has also contributed music to the Red Dead Redemption 2 video game, and composed/produced a music installation for the MoMA lobby in New York.

Arca recently produced the music for, and stars in, Reebok’s ad campaign for Life Is Not A Spectator Sport, also featuring Allen Iverson, Brent Faiyaz and Ghetts and Lolo Zouai.

As a visual artist Arca was commissioned to produce a series of algorithm-trained, multi-media, AI paintings for CIRCA, spanning five international cities throughout January 2022.

Downtown Music Services says that it will be working with Arca to maximize new opportunities and introduce global audiences to her music.

DMS was launched in April 2021 as a subsidiary of Downtown Music Holdings, following a shift to focus exclusively on music services after Concord acquired the New York-based firm’s entire owned music rights catalog for $400 million.

The company recently announced a raft of new hires.

In February, Sandra Croft joined the company’s UK marketing team as its Marketing Manager.

This followed the promotion of Bruce Lampcov to Executive Vice President & Executive Producer, and Sean McGraw to SVP, Catalogue Management.
