London-based Distiller Music Group has launched a division specialising in live activity, touring and security.
Industry veteran John Thompson has been appointed Operations Director of this new initiative.
Thompson is an experienced personal security, crowd safety management and tour management professional, who has worked with major artists including Oasis, Radiohead, Artic Monkeys, Kaiser Chiefs and Bloc Party among many others.
Reporting directly to Distiller Music Group CEO Sam Dyson, and working alongside the Managing Director Alan Pell, Thompson’s appointment is effective immediately.
He will split his time between the company’s London offices and their West Country based residential recording complex The Distillery.
Distiller Live says it ‘offers a bespoke touring and security service that caters for all levels of live activity from a one-off performance to an extensive worldwide tour’.
It offers a range of services including a global network of experienced Tour Managers, ground & aviation transport, hotel booking & routing, visa planning and applications, close protection & personal security, accreditation, tour budgeting and more.
John Thompson said, “This new venture is a great opportunity for me to apply my many years of experience in this sector, to a new touring and security solution that offers bespoke services to artists at all stages of their career. Rather than simply providing a ‘one size fits all’ service we are aiming to take what an artist really needs as our starting point and put an individually tailored plan in place, that suits their budget and requirements.”
Sam Dyson, CEO of Distiller Music Group said, “Live music is a huge part of what our company does, so launching a division that offers expertise and experience in this area is a logical step. John Thompson has a fantastic reputation in the industry and is the perfect person to lead this new venture, which aims to provide a range of bespoke solutions on an international basis to artists at all stages of their development and success.”Music Business Worldwide
