Def Jam promotes trio of promotion executives

Def Jam Recordings has promoted three of its promotion executives, Nicki Farag, Noah Sheer and Keith Rothschild.

Farag has moved up from SVP/Promotion to EVP and Head Of Promotion for the Universal label, making her the first woman to have the title in Def Jam’s 34-year history.

Previously SVP/Rhythm-Crossover & Dance Promotion, Sheer is now EVP/Rhythm & Lifestyle Promotion.

Rothschild has been upped from SVP/Top 40 Promotion to SVP/Promotion.

Paul Rosenberg, who was named Def Jam Recordings Chairman/CEO last year, said: “I am delighted to announce the promotions of Nicki, Noah and Keith.

“In the short time we’ve worked together, I have come to know nicki, noah and keith as passionate, dedicated, energetic, top-notch executives.”

Farag was named SVP/Promotion in August 2016 and has spent 15 years at the label, first joining as an assistant.

Discussing her promotion, she said: “It’s my great honor to accept the role of EVP/Promotion, [it’s] an incredible milestone for me.

“I would like to thank and recognize Paul Rosenberg for believing in me and paving the way for female executives at this company.”

“I would like to thank and recognize Paul Rosenberg for believing in me and paving the way for female executives at this company.

“I’m thrilled to continue to work with Noah and Keith, both integral executives for Def Jam. They are reliable, resilient and masterminds at their jobs. I cherish their friendship and expertise, and I believe we are poised for incredible success.

“We will continue to cultivate, educate, and accept no boundaries or limitations in the promotion of our incredible artists and their music.”

Sheer has spent 18 years at Def Jam and was given his previous title in August 2016.

He said: “If you had told me when I graduated high school, that I’d end up landing a gig at Def Jam Recordings, I would have told you that you were crazy. I’m still pinching myself.

“This label, this team, these artists, we’ve accomplished so much, and to be able to contribute to this brand and the culture on a daily basis is nothing short of amazing.”

“I’ve had the privilege of working with so many incredible people, and the vision and leadership of Paul is like winning the lottery all over again.

“There is not one person I can think of who is more capable and more deserving of taking the helm of this promotion department than Nicki. [She] has an infectious energy that makes everyone who comes in contact with her a better human. You know what? We did win the lottery.”

“I would like to congratulate Nicki and Noah, and thank Paul for the opportunity to continue to break new artists and deliver hit records at this iconic and historic label.”
