Deezer’s free tier can be controlled with Amazon Alexa now, but not in the US and Japan

Deezer is rolling out a number of new initiatives to keep up with its rivals.

On Tuesday (May 7) the the Paris-based music streaming service unveiled a rebrand, including a redesigned logo and app.

Today (May 9) the company announced that it’s giving free users access to control their music on Amazon Alexa-enabled devices.

According to Deezer, the feature will progressively roll out to Alexa-enabled devices where Deezer is available over the next two weeks, but not in the US and Japan “at this time”.

Voice control features for the app include access to mixes and playlists and access to Deezer’s Flow, which requires a user to say, “Alexa, play Flow,” which will play a continuous personalised playlist.

The ‘Flow’ feature can be tailored by saying, “I like this song” or “Alexa, I don’t like this”.

The music streaming platform currently has 14 million monthly active users and is available in over 180 countries.

“The free service is an easy and convenient way to start listening to music with any Alexa-enabled device right out of the box, making Deezer an even more attractive music choice.”
