Deezer introduces ‘Shows’ hub for non-music audio content

Having reported 250% growth in podcast usage on its platform over the last two years, France-born music streaming service Deezer is continuing to step up its capabilities in this space.

Starting today (November 5), Deezer users will be able to access podcasts and radio shows via a dedicated non-music content hub on the streaming company’s iOS app.

Deezer recently entered into global partnerships with five podcasting companies including Libsyn, Ausha, Podomatic, Blubrry and Simplecast, in addition to adding ‘tech updates’ from existing partners Audioboom and Voxnest.

The new ‘Shows’ tab is being rolled out globally and will feature more than 15 custom channels that cover topics like comedy, society & culture, fiction, music podcasts and education.

Shows is available for free and paying subscribers on iOS and it will be made available desktop and Android users in the near future.

Users can find sub-categories and niche subjects like self-help, parenthood, podcasts for kids, inspirational women, entrepreneurs and testimonials. Categories are sorted by topic and users can easily browse the library by swiping left to right.

Shows also includes new Deezer Originals, local podcasts made just for Deezer users ranging from Rap ist Kampfsport in Germany to L’Heure de Gloire in France and Stereo Falante in Brazil.

“We provide the best local and global podcasts, fresh original productions and radio channels tailored for our users.”

Frederic Antelme, Deezer

Radio fans can also find stations from around the world including US, UK, France, Brazil, Germany and the Netherlands.

Personal recommendations will be displayed under the Podcasts for you tab.

Based on your listening history and preferences, Shows can make personalized recommendations, similar to Deezer’s curated music content.

The “Shows” tab also allows paying and non-paying subscribers to add any content directly to their personal library.

Frederic Antelme, VP Content and Productions, Deezer said: “As much we all love music, there are times when we just want to hear a funny podcast or binge on a crime series.

“Now our ‘Shows’ feature makes it easier than ever for our users to find the content they love. We provide the best local and global podcasts, fresh original productions and radio channels tailored for our users.
