deadmau5’s PIXELYNX names ex Kobalt President and TIDAL CEO Richard Sanders as Group Strategy Advisor

PIXELYNX, a music metaverse platform founded by Joel Zimmerman, aka deadmau5, and Richie Hawtin, has announced a raft of new hires.

Richard Sanders has been named Group Strategy Advisor for the Advisory Board at the platform, which was originally unveiled in 2021.

In addition to Sanders, Paul Joffe joins the company as COO, Steve Wakeman is named Head of Production, Zac Alcampo takes on the role of Creative Director, Pal Chohan is VP of Audio Systems and Music, and Jaime Valls Vigil will be PIXELYNX’s Games System Designer.

Cited as a “key member” of PIXELYNX’s Advisory Board by the company, Sanders was most recently CEO of TIDAL.

Sanders also previously spent five years as President of Kobalt Music Group, leaving in 2017, and has held further roles as Chairman of Sony Music International, President of Global Marketing/CMO SonyBMG, and has served in leadership roles at companies such as RCA and V2.

Paul Joffe served as the GM of Games at Sony Pictures Entertainment, and is the Founder of educational app development company Kid Awesome.

 

Steve Wakeman takes on the Head of Production role after more than 18 years’ experience in production and management. He has previously worked for Codemasters, Inspired Gaming Group, and PM Connect.

Zac Alcampo was previously a World and Systems Designer & Product Owner at Wargaming, while Pal Chohan most recently served as PM for Music Research and Development at TikTok.

Jaime Valls Vigil, meanwhile, will help develop and design ELYNXIR systems, a music gaming platform from PIXELYNX. Valls Vigil was previously the Senior Game Designer at Blackmouth Games, Coatsink, and FunFair Technologies.

Los-Angeles and London-based gaming venture PIXELYNX was launched in 2021, alongside news of a seed funding round that raised $4.5 million.

PIXELYNX was founded by Richie Hawtin, Joel Zimmerman aka deadmau5, along with music and gaming industry veterans Ben Turner, Dean Wilson and Inder Phull.

Kimberly Knoller was also named Chief Marketing Officer of the company in June. Knoller was previously CMO of SongVest, an SEC REGA+ qualified music royalty platform that lets fans invest in music, and worked at The Knoller Group (TKG) which she founded in 2010.Music Business Worldwide
