The Entertainment Retailers’ Association (ERA) is a UK trade body representing the interests of digital and physical retailers of entertainment goods and services… including music.
Each year, ERA issues figures that show the annual retail spend on music in the UK. These figures include music subscription streaming, but not ad-funded music streaming platforms.
The reason for this is obvious: Consumers typically don’t have to spend anything on ad-funded platforms.
Please note: ERA’s figures are retail figures, representing consumer spend; they do not reflect the amount of this consumer spend that gets passed to music rightsholders/distributors (i.e. wholesalers).
The below data visualization shows annual consumer spend on various music formats in the UK.
