Danny Strick joins CMNTY Culture as a Senior Advisor

Former Sony/ATV Co-President Danny Strick has joined CMNTY Culture’s entertainment and media portfolio companies as a Senior Advisor.

Based in Los Angeles, CMNTY Culture was founded by eight-time Grammy award-winning songwriter, singer, producer, actor, and entrepreneur Philip Lawrence in partnership with Thomas St. John, Founder of Thomas St. John Group, a sports and entertainment accounting and business management firm.

In his role as Senior Advisor, Strick will support CMNTY Culture across all its verticals, which include recorded music, music publishing, film/ TV, and real estate.

He will use his expertise and relationships to help guide the A&R team of the growing record label, CMNTY Culture RCRDS, and music publishing entity, CMNTY Culture Publishing, while helping to strategize the overall vision of the company’s future and further its success.

Lawrence and St. John recruited veteran entertainment talent lawyer Miles Cooley (formerly DLA Piper) as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Legal Officer, and Marlena Kaplan (formerly Blackstone) as Chief Financial Officer.

The CMNTY Culture RCRDS record label is also a part of the company’s portfolio and led by Lawrence, alongside President and Co-founder, Malik Rasheed (formerly Epic Records), and Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Johnson (formerly PUMA Group).

Previously, Strick spent 16 years at Sony/ ATV, most recently as Co-President of the US company.

Under his leadership, the company signed acts including Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Camila Cabello, Maluma, Fall Out Boy, A$AP Rocky, The Chainsmokers, Lil Nas X, and OneRepublic, among others.

Following his departure in early 2020, Strick consulted in private equity with the buying and selling of catalogs, including the Calvin Harris acquisition with Vine Alternative Investments where he was introduced to Thomas St. John.
