CTM Outlander acquires masters catalog of US singer-songwriter Matt Simons

CTM Outlander, a joint venture between Netherlands-based CTM and US-based Outlander Capital, says it has acquired the master recording catalog of American singer‑songwriter Matt Simons.

According to a press release on Wednesday (April 1), the transaction includes masters spanning Simons’ career, including the albums Living ProofPiecesCatch & ReleaseWhen the Lights Go DownRak Studio Sessions, and Identity Crisis.

CTM Outlander noted that Simons’ 2015 breakthrough single Catch & Release (Deepend Remix) reached No.1 in multiple territories, including Germany, France, Spain, and Belgium. The track has received Platinum and Gold certifications across markets such as Canada, South Africa, Norway, Italy, Ireland, Sweden, and Switzerland.

He first gained traction in the Netherlands, where his single With You became a top 10 hit in 2013 after it was featured on the Dutch television series Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden.

CTM Outlander, which has offices in Amsterdam, Dallas, Nashville, London, Miami, and Brussels, launched in 2021 with a stated ambition to invest $1 billion in music rights over five years.

Its publishing acquisitions have leaned heavily toward Nashville, with deals for the catalogs of Shane McAnally, Sam Hunt, Ross Copperman, and Natalie Hemby.

The Simons transaction marks the latest in a series of moves by the company to expand into master recordings.

CTM Outlander says the move further advances its “long‑term strategic vision to build a diversified and globally impactful music rights portfolio,” while strengthening its position as “a leading global music rights company across genres and territories”.

The company previously acquired Dutch independent music publisher Strengholt Music Group in 2023, and the transaction follows prior master rights acquisitions, such as Belgium’s CNR catalog and American artist Austin Mahone.Music Business Worldwide
