Courtney Lowery has been named Executive Vice President of Media Strategy and Lifestyle at Motown Records.

In this new role, Lowery will oversee media strategy and execution for the label and its roster of artists.

Additionally, he will play an “integral” role in a wide range of the label’s cultural and lifestyle initiatives, says Motown.

Lowery is based in Los Angeles and will report to Motown’s Chairwoman & CEO, Ethiopia Habtemariam, who took on the role in March.

In 2020, Lowery launched his own firm, where he engineered strategic campaigns for clients such as DJ Khaled, Swizz Beatz, Isley Brothers, and VERZUZ.

Before that, he spent eight years at Epic Records, where he helped cultivate media campaigns for names such as Future, Ciara, 21 Savage, Rick Ross, and French Montana.

He has also held publicity positions at eOne Entertainment, W & W Public Relations, and United States Olympics.

Along the way, he picked up the 2017 Culture Creators Award, while BET cited him as one of its ’29 People You Should Know’.

Lowery’s appointment is the latest in a string of executive hires at Motown Records.

In July, Brian Nolan was appointed Executive Vice President and EVP, Marketing, at the label, and in June, Jamila Thomas took on the role of Vice President, Artist Marketing.
