Concord Music hires Tina Funk to expand publishing division in Germany

Concord Music is set to expand its combined publishing business in Germany with the appointment of Tina Funk to the newly created position of Managing Director, Publishing for the territory.

Funk was formerly General Manager at Vevo Germany and her background combines technology, streaming, IP and rights management alongside senior positions at major and independent record companies.

In her new role, which starts with immediate effect, she will lead the expansion of Concord’s combined music publishing businesses in the world’s fourth largest music market across administration, synchronization and creative.

The role will focus on both domestic and international A&R alongside the creation of infrastructure that will look to secure and redouble Concord’s position in publishing.

Based at the company’s headquarters in Berlin, she reports directly to Concord Music’s European President of Publishing, John Minch.

As Vevo’s GM for Germany from its launch in 2013, Funk was responsible for building the local team and activities across content and programming and being at the forefront of the dialogue between artists and content exploitation.

Prior to Vevo, she was SVP Music at EMI Music Germany, responsible for day-to-day running of all frontline label divisions, with a roster including Coldplay, The Rolling Stones, Depeche Mode, Daft Punk, and N.E.R.D.

During her tenure at EMI, Funk was also MD of the German subsidiary of Mute and held senior management positions at V2 Music and Virgin Records.

In 2008 she founded Creative Lobby alongside entertainment lawyers ScheuermannWesterhoffStrittmatter, as a consulting firm to assist and facilitate creative companies and artists on the development, marketing and protection of their IP.
