Quality Control JV deal with Capitol Music Group and Universal Music Group

In May 2015, Quality Control announced it had entered into a joint venture partnership with Universal’s Capitol Music Group, and CMG subsidiary Motown.

From the Capitol side, the deal was spearheaded by Motown President, Ethiopia Habtemariam, in conjunction with then-Capitol boss, Steve Barnett.

Habtemariam said at the time: “Quality Control Music has ascended to become one of the most influential independent labels in hip-hop music.

“Pee and Coach K have developed an exciting brand in Quality Control, and like Motown, the goals are aligned in moving urban culture forward with music and talent that connect around the world. We¹re all on the same page, and are going to make major waves.”Music Business Worldwide
