Nettwerk Music Group is a Canadian music company founded by Terry McBride, Mark Jowett, Ric Arboit and Dan Fraser in 1984.

Led by McBride as Chairman & CEO, the company today houses a record label operation, in addition to a music publisher and an artist management operation.

At various points in its history, Nettwerk’s roster of artists has included Coldplay (US), Sarah McLachlan, Dido, and Barenaked Ladies.

More recently Nettwerk has worked with artists including Perfume Genius, The Veils, Passenger, Christina Perri, and Ólafur Arnalds.


Sale of Nettwerk’s publishing catalog to Kobalt

In July 2016, it was announced that over 18,000 songs developed and acquired by Nettwerk’s publishing division in the prior 30 years had been bought by Kobalt Music Copyrights (KMC).

KMC was an independent investment fund established in 2011. It was advised and managed by Kobalt Capital Ltd – but operated as a separate entity to Kobalt Music Group.

In November 2020, Hipgnosis Songs Fund announced it had acquired a portfolio of copyrights from Kobalt for $323m that included the Nettwerk publishing catalog.Music Business Worldwide
