Since 2008, Mom + Pop has built an enviable industry reputation for developing successful, culturally impactful artists. 

Active artists on Mom+Pop today, which also has an office in Los Angeles, include Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana, Sleater-Kinney, Tycho, Tom Morello, FKJ and more.

The New York-headquartered label has 15 full-time staff, including an in-house promotion team, with a network of independent press reps worldwide.

Mom + Pop was founded by Michael Goldstone in the summer of 2008, with initial backing from Q Prime founders Peter Mensch and Cliff Burnstein. In 2012, Goldie and Thaddeus took over the company. (Mensch and Burnstein are no longer part of the business, although Goldstone continues to work with Q Prime on Cage The Elephant.) 

Prior to starting Mom + Pop, Goldstone had experience working in A&R at labels including MCA, PolyGram (now Universal), and Epic Records, where he famously signed the young rock band who would become Pearl Jam, in addition to Rage Against The Machine. In 1996, he joined Dreamworks, where he signed the likes of Citizen Cope, Buckcherry and the All American Rejects, before he joined Seymour Stein at Sire in 2003, where his standout signings including Against Me!, Tegan & Sara and Regina Spektor.

Thaddeus Rudd joined Goldstone at Mom + Pop in 2009, a year after the label was founded, following a career that had seen him manage artists, work at a major label (Virgin Records), run his own indie label and become an established operator in radio promotion.

In the first few years of the 2010s, Mom + Pop hit its first real purple patch, signing artists like Sleigh Bells, Metric, Andrew Bird and Polica.Music Business Worldwide
