Chris Dempsey promoted to UK Managing Director at YM&U Group

Chris Dempsey has been promoted to the role of UK Managing Director at talent management firm, YM&U Group.

Dempsey is based in London, and will report jointly to Matt Colon, Global President of the company’s music division, and Mary Bekhait, Group CEO of YMU.

Colon, manager of producer and DJ Steve Aoki, was promoted to Global President of Music at YM&U on December 1.

Dempsey joined YMU in 2014 as a Director.

During his time at the company, Dempsey has worked with Take That, Gary Barlow, James Arthur, Dan Caplen and Emily Burns.

Prior to joining YMU, Dempsey was Senior Marketing Manager at Sony Music Entertainment, working at Columbia and Epic Records with artists such as Manic Street Preachers, Foster The People and Meghan Trainor.

Artists represented by YMU include James Arthur, Years & Years, MNEK, Blink 182, Lloyiso, Hannah Wants, Mark Ralph, Gary Barlow, Clean Bandit, Take That, Steve Aoki, Kurupt FM, and Danny Howard.

Dempsey’s promotion comes several months after Iain Watt, former Managing Director of YMU Music in the UK, departed the company after three years.

YMU, then operating as James Grant Group, had acquired Watt’s Machine Management in 2018.
