Chris Butler and John Minch to rep independent publishers on PRS Executive Board

Imagem Chief Executive, John Minch and Music Sales Group’s Head of Publishing & Rights, Chris Butler will represent independent publishers on PRS For Music‘s Executive Board next year.

The announcement followed the PRS board meeting last Wednesday (16 December 2015) where Minch and Butler were both re-elected as independent publishers.

There were three independent publisher nominations received for the two available seats which saw a ballot put in place to decide the outcome.

Chris Butler said: “PRS is at the forefront of innovation and best practice within the worldwide Rights Management community and I am delighted to be able to continue to contribute to the work of the executive board.”

John Minch said: “It’s an exciting time. The new ICE development and a major investment in a new digital PRS. I’m happy and flattered to be part of it all.”

The Executive Board primarily oversees the direction of PRS for Music’s strategy, operations and performance – consisting of directors drawn from the Performing Right Society Limited, both songwriters and publishers, as well as external directors.

In the other ballots, former BASCA Chairman Simon Darlow was elected as Deputy Chairman (writer), where songwriter Mick Leeson and composer Julian Nott were appointed as Writer Members.

In addition, MPA Chair Jackie Alway and Sony/ATV’s William Booth were elected as major Publisher Members.

These appointments will come into effect on 1 January 2016.Music Business Worldwide
