Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Golden Globe Award-winning superstar Cher has entered into an agreement with Irving Azoff‘s Iconic Artists Group (Iconic) that will see the company “acquire, develop and expand her storied musical legacy”.

According to a press release, the deal encompasses “a range of music assets from [Cher’s] long-standing career”.

Billboard reports that Iconic Artists has acquired “Cher’s full interest in her past sound recordings and compositions” for an undisclosed sum.

Cher is the fifth-ranked female artist with the most Billboard US Hot 100 charted singles.

From hits including I Got You Babe, Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves, to If I Could Turn Back Time, and Believe, Cher’s career as a recording artist spans seven decades.

She is the only artist to have a No.1 single on a Billboard chart in each of the past six decades.

Cher’s deal follows Iconic’s recent acquisitions of the catalogs of Dean Martin, David Crosby, Stephen Stills, Nat King Cole, Linda Ronstadt, and Joe Cocker.

Iconic launched in January 2020 with the acquisition of a controlling interest in the legendary catalog of The Beach Boys.

Cher is one of the world’s best-selling music artists. Launching her career in the 1960s as part of Sonny & Cher, the superstar made unprecedented strides in what had long been a male-dominated industry.

Cher has sold more than 100 million records. Her three-year 325-show world “Farewell Tour” from 2003 to 2005 played to more than three million fans and became the most successful tour ever by any female artist.

She has been honored with a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, an Academy Award, three Golden Globe Awards, a Cannes Film Festival Award, the Billboard Icon Award, and more.

“While I’m still working away, it’s good to have a long-time friend to honor and market what I’ve already accomplished these last decades.”
