Capitol Music Group and Caroline partner with SM Entertainment to launch new K-pop supergroup SuperM

Capitol Music Group (CMG) and its independent distribution and label services division Caroline have signed an agreement with K-pop supergroup SuperM through Seoul, Korea-based SM Entertainment Co., Ltd.

The announcement was made today (August 7) at the 2019 Capitol Congress by CMG Chairman & CEO Steve Barnett, Caroline President Jacqueline Saturn and Soo-Man Lee, music producer and founder of Korea’s largest entertainment company, SM Entertainment.

SuperM will officially launch in the US in October 2019 with the group’s first music releases and debut US live performances.

Capitol Music Group/Caroline will provide distribution and will orchestrate marketing, promotion and publicity campaigns in support of SuperM.

SuperM’s members have been assembled from some of the most popular K-pop acts in the world.

The group’s seven members, Taemin from SHINee, EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, NCT 127’s Taeyong and Mark, and Lucas and Ten of Chinese band WayV, were presented today at Capitol Congress.

The annual meeting for Capitol Music Group staffers and other music industry figures also featured appearances by such artists as Katy Perry, Marshmello and Halsey.

Soo-Man Lee said: “Through SuperM, we are planning to show a maximized SMP, a unique content I created which stands for SM Music Performance.

“We will also show you a new level of SMP, which represents the intense music and awe-inspiring performances that the current global K-pop fans love and enjoy.

“SuperM will give the global music fans an ultimate feeling of catharsis through the synergy and spectacular performance of the seven members.”
