BTS break record for ‘biggest show of the year’ on Apple Music 1 with debut episode of ‘BTS Radio’

Last week, Apple Music announced that BTS would be launching their own radio show on Apple Music 1, called BTS Radio: Past & Present.

Following the show’s debut on Saturday May 28, Apple Music revealed via a tweet on Sunday (May 29) that the first episode “broke the record for biggest show of the year” on the platform.

Apple Music says that BTS Radio: Past & Present will be a three-episode limited series airing weekly, leading up to the release of BTS’s new album Proof, released on June 10.

Episode 2 will air on June 3. The final episode airs June 10.

Apple Music 1 is Apple Music’s flagship radio station, which rebranded from its former name of Beats 1 in August 2020.

Beats 1 originally launched at the end of June 2015 with Zane Lowe.

In addition to BTS, Apple Music 1 has aired shows from artists such as Action Bronson, Billie Eilish, Elton John, Joe Kay, Lil Wayne, Frank Ocean, Vince Staples, and The Weeknd, as well as new shows from Aitch, Kerwin Frost, HAIM, Lady Gaga, Nile RodgersTravis Scott, Young M.A, and many more.

In February, BTS were crowned winners of 2021’s IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award, becoming the first act to win the award for two consecutive years.

The announcement of BTS’s new show on Apple Music 1 follows the recent news of the band’s invitation to the White House to speak with President Joe Biden.
