Brazil’s SOCINPRO partners with Unison for Pan-European collection

Brazilian CMO SOCINPRO and Barcelona-based Independent Management Entity (IME) organization Unison have signed a partnership to collect mechanical and public performance digital publishing rights for SOCINPRO’s members in all European territories.

This collaboration agreement mandates Unison to collect digital publishing rights, both mechanical and public performance, on behalf of SOCINPRO for these territories.

The deal marks the second agreement Unison has signed in the Brazilian territory this year after announcing partnership with Smart Rights past June.

 

According to the IFPI’s latest Global Music Report, Brazil is the tenth largest recorded music market globally, with Central and South America proving to be the fastest-growing region for the fifth consecutive year in 2019.

CISAC’s Global Collections reports also show Brazil in the top 10 countries for music collections with €194 million (a 2.3% share of world collections).

SOCINPRO, the Brazilian Society for the Administration and Protection of Intellectual Rights, was founded in 1962 and is one of six member societies that form and manage the ECAD (national copyright collection agency in Brazil).

Among its founders are Martinho da Vila, Maysa, Roberto Carlos, Alcione.

SOCINPRO counts more than 13,000 ‘associates’, among them, Ivan Myazato, Cesar Menotti&Fabiano, Silvio Cesar, Zezé Motta, Neguinho da Beija Flor, Leonardo e Zé Felipe, Ellen de Lima, Joelma, Rick&Renner, Altay Velloso, Doris Monteiro, Petrúcio Amorim, Bel Marques, Xandy de Pilares, Luiz Vieira, and others.
