Brandy Contreras has been promoted to the newly-created position of Senior Vice President of Strategic Operations for Caroline – the arm of Capitol Music Group (CMG) which distributes and services independent labels and artists.

In her elevated position, Contreras is charged with strengthening and bringing enhancements to Caroline’s infrastructure, streamlining administrative and communication processes with its personnel, artist and label partners and CMG management.

She will work toward increasing efficiencies among Caroline’s 50-person U.S. staff, and will work closely with Saturn and EVP Matt Sawin on strategic planning and alliances with Caroline International’s 11 global offices.

Contreras is based in Hollywood in the Capitol Tower.

Caroline President Jacqueline Saturn said: “There are no words to express my excitement about welcoming Brandy into the Caroline family. I have never seen an employee so respected, valued and loved immediately by all of CMG. Her wealth of knowledge and great demeanor will be of incredible value to the entire Caroline team.”

“She will be a tremendous asset to Caroline and help manage this important arm of our company as it continues its great growth and success.”

Contreras said, “I’m thrilled and honored to be to be joining the Caroline team as we build on its growing success and stellar reputation for super-serving its independent artist and label partners. I want to continue building the strongest, most efficient organization possible and I’m excited to be bringing my expertise in media, tech and music to my new role. I want to thank Jacqueline Saturn for providing me with this amazing opportunity and entrusting me with such an important role, Michelle Jubelirer for her invaluable mentorship and Steve Barnett for being such a visionary and offering me such unwavering support.”

Prior to receiving her promotion, Contreras was most recently Vice President of Human Resources (HR) for both CMG and Universal Music Group (UMG), having held that position since February 2017.

In that role, she redesigned CMG’s HR team to support the forward progress of the company’s labels, and was instrumental in rebranding HR’s strategic support and partnerships with CMG’s many departments.

She was previously Head of International HR for Twitter, having played a significant role in growing that company’s global staff from 400 to more than 4,000 in only four years. While there, she helped launch 16 international offices for the company in only 18 months, and played an integral role in preparation and execution of Twitter’s IPO in 2013.

She began her career at Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1997, rising from an entry level position to become Attorney/Director of Contracts after attaining a JD from Loyola Law School in 2003.

After a stint as HR Director at Sony Pictures Television, she returned to Disney Animation in 2007 as Head of Talent. She remained in that position until joining Twitter in 2011.Music Business Worldwide
