BMG revealed on Tuesday (October 4) that Peter Stack will step down as Global Head of its catalog recordings business at the end of 2022.

Stack joined BMG in 2014 following BMG’s acquisition of the company he founded, catalog specialist Union Square Music, and has spent the past seven years as EVP Global Catalog Recordings.

BMG says that Stack has been the “driving force” behind its recorded catalog business.

The company’s recorded catalog business includes work by artists such as Black Sabbath, Buena Vista Social Club, The Kinks, Madness, Keith Richards, Kylie Minogue, Iron Maiden (US), Nina Simone, Nena, Erasure, Rick Astley, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Mötörhead, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Fatboy Slim, Mötley Crüe, Gilbert O’Sullivan, Scorpions, The Small Faces, Mecano, Slade and ELP.

It also includes record labels, including Transatlantic, Strictly Rhythm, Salsoul, Trojan and Noise.

Stack’s career in recorded catalog includes building and running Music Collection International (later to become Demon Music Group) and founding Union Square Music.

He previously served as an elected Independent Council Member on the BPI Council and as a PPL Board Director.

Peter Stack said: “When I sold Union Square to BMG at the end of 2014, I agreed to stay on for an initial three years to integrate the business.

“Little did I know that it would turn into an eight-year adventure creating a best-in-class global operation with a catalog including many of the most influential and iconic artists of all time.”

“His place in BMG’s history is assured. We wish him well.”
