BMG inks A&R partnership with Stefan Dabruck, invests in SDM agency

BMG has entered into a partnership with dance/EDM producer and artist manager Stefan Dabruck.

Dabruck, who recently discovered and launched the career of Robin Schulz, will serve as a consultant to the BMG Artists A&R team to develop up-and-coming talent internationally.

BMG – which has has invested in Dabruck’s Frankfurt-based management agency SDM as part of the agreement – says it scored the deal against significant competition.

Dabruck will now support the signing and release of electronic, pop and DJ acts to BMG.

“The partnership with BMG will further the creation of exciting new projects and collaborations between BMG artists and talents in the electro genre internationally,” says Dabruck.

“I am very impressed by the creative output generated by the BMG team. Be it in Los Angeles, Berlin or Sydney, the teams are incredibly well-connected and forward-thinking.”

BMG and Dabruck have a previous connection: for the past year, Dabruck has worked with BMG as part of the songwriter team Junx, known for their work with Robin Schulz and David Guetta.

“Stefan is not just a German hitmaker, he is someone who identifies and shapes global hits: He is one of the best and most established EDM producers and artist managers worldwide.”

BMG Head of A&R Sina Wahnschaffe said: “I’m super excited to work with Stefan and his crew. We will develop great artists and tracks together.

“Also, what we were able to create on the publishing side over the last seven months is an indicator of how great we can work together and what we can achieve with joined forces”.

Dabruck has been involved in 200 platinum and gold-certified records and singles worldwide in the past four years alone.

As an international manager, Dabruck has worked with artists like Axwell, Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello.

As a producer, he has developed hits with the likes of Boogie Pimps, Tocadisco, Moguai and Global Deejays – while signing artists such as Mylo and Green Velvet.

The partnership is the first major deal struck by BMG Germany since Dominique Kulling was appointed with a brief to grow its German recordings business.

BMG GSA managing director Dominique Kulling adds: “Stefan is not just a German hitmaker, he is someone who identifies and shapes global hits: He is one of the best and most established EDM producers and artist managers worldwide.

“To say that we are excited to welcome him to our team is an understatement. We are already working on promising projects with him and our artists and expect to release first tracks in the coming weeks”.
