Black Keys agent Dave Kaplan quits The Agency Group to join Paradigm

Respected music industry veteran Dave Kaplan has quit The Agency Group (TAG) to join rival Paradigm as an agent in their music division.

US-based Kaplan brings with him several artists including The Black Keys, Father John Misty, Bombay Bicycle Club and The Kills to name a few. Kaplan joins Paradigm from The Agency Group.

He leaves The Agency Group after 13 years, just weeks after it was confirmed that the company had been acquired by United Talent Artists (UTA).

“I’ve known Marty Diamond and Tom Windish for many years and admired what they’ve accomplished as agents,” says Kaplan.

“Paradigm should be a great home for me and for the artists I represent and I’m really looking forward to this next phase of my career.”

Kaplan began his music career as a promoter in San Francisco and then founded his own booking agency in 1997, Easy Action Industries, which merged with The Agency Group in 2002.

Marty Diamond, Paradigm’s Head of East Coast Music, and Kaplan have known each other for over 10 years and will be working together from Paradigm’s New York office. “I am honored to have Dave as a part of our Paradigm team. He is an incredible agent and has impeccable taste and great A&R instincts.”

Head of the Paradigm Music Division, Chip Hooper added, “We’re delighted to have an agent of Dave’s caliber join our family.  Whenever we consider the addition of an agent or a partner, we’re very conscious of the character and quality of the people involved.  We think Dave fits perfectly.”

Paradigm works with clients in motion pictures, television, music, theatre, publishing and digital media.

Over the past four years, Paradigm has expanded the Paradigm Music Division with key partnerships with AM Only, CODA and The Windish Agency, with offices in Los Angeles, New York, Monterey, Nashville, London, Chicago and Toronto.Music Business Worldwide
