Better Noise Music makes raft of new hires and promotions

Allen Kovac’s Better Noise Music has made a series of new hires and promotions across all of the company’s departments and global offices.

The announcement was made by Dan Waite, who was promoted to President at the start of the year to oversee all artist relations and music and film content releases across the company’s global offices in New York, Los Angeles, Nashville, Toronto, London, Berlin, Sydney, and newly opened offices in South America and South East Asia.

As part of the new series of hires, the label has appointed Sean Maxson as VP, Marketing.

In his role, Better Noise says that Maxson will oversee all marketing strategy and execution for the company’s music releases and film/TV productions.

With a career spanning over 20 years in music and entertainment, Maxson has held key marketing and promotions executive positions at RED Distribution, Mammoth Records, PIAS, and most recently served as General Manager at IDOL.

He’s been involved with successful project launches from an eclectic group of artists including PIXIES, Bullet For My Valentine, The Hold Steady, The Ting Tings, Enter Shikari, My Morning Jacket, Four Tet, Violent Femmes, Ray LaMontagne, Cage The Elephant, Eels, Amaranthe, and Better Noise’s very own AWOLNATION.

In addition to Maxson, Better Noise has hired Saleem Khan as Accounts Payable Coordinator, while Anne Wall joins as Director, Business Affairs, Licensing, and Royalties.

Elsewhere, Jimmy Harney was recently announced as Head of Public Relations overseeing communications strategy for all music and film releases.

Harney joined from Sunshine Sachs where he worked on campaigns with artists and brands such as Alicia Keys, Roc Nation, Nickelback, Justin Timberlake, Netflix, Apollo Theater, Janet Jackson and Rapsody.

Other new hires include Jonathan Janis, who joins the label as Director of Marketing following his artist management and strategist stint at Red Light Management, and having worked with artists including Tiësto and Allen Stone.

Michael Filippone, meanwhile, joins as Income Tracking Manager.

Internally, Harris Masood has been promoted to SVP, Finance, while Chekesha McCalla has been promoted to Director, Financial Operations. Alex Hock has been promoted to SVP, Business & Legal Affairs, while Melanie Rodriguez has been promoted to Sr. Director, Marketing.

Additionally, Amy O’Connor has been promoted to Senior Director, Global Streaming, while Claudia Mancino has been promoted to UK & Europe Promotions Manager.

Autumn Myers has been promoted to Label Key Partners Manager and Tim McLean Smith to Director, Catalog Marketing & Label Director For Australia And New Zealand.

Other promotions include Henry Tongue, who has been upped to Director, International Streaming Strategy, Victor Lang who has been promoted to Director, Marketing GSA and Daniel Sears who has been promoted to Production Manager.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Mötley Crüe and Better Noise says that it’s gearing up for a celebration of the event with special packages of music and merch to be announced.

In terms of new music, this week Better Noise released the latest video from Five Finger Death Punch, Darkness Settles In from their album F8.

The label is also set to release new music from AWOLNATION and Atlas Genius and others in the coming months.

In December 2020, Better Noise Music made Mediabase Active Rock Chart history, ranking as the No.1 label on the chart for three straight years.

Mediabase acknowledged Better Noise Music’s achievement in the 2020 year-end radio charts released on  December 9.
