Stockholm-based B2B music streaming service Soundtrack Your Brand has launched an artificial intelligence-powered music playlist generator.
Soundtrack says that its AI Playlist Generator technology uses a Large Language Model (LLM) to “instantly generate bespoke music playlists” from the company’s catalog of more than 100 million commercially licensed songs.
Founded in 2013 by Ola Sars as a joint venture with Spotify, Soundtrack Your Brand — formerly Spotify For Business — is a global music streaming service that caters specifically to businesses.
It provides a solution for streaming music in commercial settings such as stores, hotels, restaurants, and other establishments. It serves clients including global brands like McDonald’s, Lululemon, Uniqlo, Joe & The Juice, Aesop, and Tag Heuer.
In 2020, it renewed its global licensing agreement with Warner Music Group and signed a global licensing deal with Universal Music Group, excluding China.
Soundtrack Your Brand says that, using its new AI playlist generator, “simple prompts” can be inputted to “create the perfect playlist for a brand, including the business type, location, vibe, mood, target audience” all “without the need for human curation”.

News of Soundtrack Your Brand’s new AI playlist generator follows the news of Spotify’s new AI Playlist tool, which is rolling out in beta form to Spotify Premium subscribers on Android and iOS devices in the UK and Australia, the company announced in a statement on Sunday (April 7).
The tool will enable users to enter a text prompt from which the AI Playlist will generate music suggestions.

In an op/ed for MBW in February, Ola Sars wrote about what he said is “the rampant misuse of music in business and commercial settings”.
According to Sars, “more than two-thirds of U.S. businesses engage in unauthorized use of consumer services to play music, resulting in a 3x loss in value to the music industry”.
In June last year, Soundtrack Your Brand raised $15 million in a pre-growth round.
